JOINT STATEMENT

The parties at the Dialogues Table ratify their will for peace and to continue with the process.

1. Today, 26 July 2024, a commission of delegates of the Table of Peace Dialogues met to evaluate the critical situation that arose with the caravan of members of the General Staff of the Blocs J.S. Briceño, Magdalena Medio and the Front Raúl Reyes.

2. A working group has been set up with the Office of the Peace Counsellor Commissioner, delegates from the Ministry of Defence, the National Protection Unit and the Peace Dialogues Table, to review the protocols for protection and transfer schemes for the members of the Table, the Oversight, Monitoring and Verification Mechanism and the delegation of the General Staff of the J.S. Briceño, Magdalena Medio and the Front Raúl Reyes.

The Joint Legal Commission that has been functioning will monitor and accompany the legal and detention situation of the members of the delegation to the roundtable on behalf of the General Staff of the J.S. Briceño Blocs, Magdalena Medio and the Front Raúl Reyes who continue to be detained, and the proceedings initiated by the Attorney General's Office in the face of identified irregularities.

4. The activities agreed in Cycle 5, which ended on 16 July, will be rescheduled so that they can be resumed as soon as possible in order to meet the commitments made to the communities, territorial and national authorities and other members of the inter-institutional Commissions and Roundtables.

The protocols for the planning and organisation of each event will be followed.

5. It is agreed to convene an extraordinary Plenary Session of the Peace Dialogue Table to be held on the days 7 and 8 August 2024 in the city of Bogotá.

The respective delegations will be consulted to ratify the date and place.

6. Delegations reiterate commitment to the objectives of peace, with strict compliance with agreements and protocols, including, in particular, those on security.

7. The delegates present are grateful for the assistance of the accompaniers - the delegate of the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, the OAS Mission to Support the Peace Process, the World Council of Churches, the National Episcopal Conference, and of the guarantor countries, Switzerland, Norway, Ireland and Venezuela, in view of the critical situation that has arisen and the progress of the peace dialogues.
